Slovakia affirms support for Palestinian rights

BRATISLAVA, February 4, 2025 (Wafa) – Slovak President Peter Pellegrini reaffirmed his country’s support for the rights of the Palestinian people during a meeting with accredited ambassadors at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava on Tuesday.

President Pellegrini conveyed his greetings to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, emphasizing Slovakia’s backing of Palestinian rights and the efforts of the Palestinian government.

He also affirmed his country’s support for humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza and the pursuit of a fair political settlement for the Palestinian cause.

During the meeting, Palestinian Ambassador Safa Khaldi conveyed President Abbas’s greetings to the Slovak leader. She expressed hope that Slovakia would continue supporting the Palestinian government’s national efforts, particularly in relief and early recovery plans for Gaza.

She also urged Slovakia, as a member of the European Union, to help counter displacement plans against the Palestinian people and contribute to achieving peace through a political agreement based on the two-state solution.
