NABLUS, January 25, 2025 (WAFA) – A 42-year-old Palestinian man, Ahmad Mahmoud Hashash, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening after being shot by Israeli occupation forces during a raid on Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus.
According to local sources, Hashash was critically injured by live fire during the incursion and was transported to a hospital in Nablus, where his death was later confirmed.
The raid targeted the area around the Balata refugee camp and Al-Quds Street, east of the city. Israeli forces deployed snipers on rooftops and used live ammunition and tear gas during the attack.
The raid came as the occupying forces were conducting raids into the houses of prisoners set free as part of the second batch under the Gaza ceasefire agreement to prevent any "public displays of joy”.
It also came as Israel has been launching a massive raid on the Jenin city and refugee camp for the fourth consecutive day, killing 14 Palestinians and forcing 1,800 Palestinian residents to leave the refugee camp.
Simultaneously, the occupation forces have tightened military measures across the occupied West Bank hours after the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the Gaza ceasefire went into effect, dismembering and isolating cities and governorates one from the other using military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks.
The Israeli military measures are in parallel with ongoing attacks by Israeli colonists across the West Bank to terrorize Palestinians and displace them from their lands to seize them and build illegal Jewish colonies that separate Palestinian communities.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
