Tunisian Parliament urges global action to end Israeli atrocities in Gaza

TUNIS, January 3, 2025 (WAFA) – The Tunisian Parliament has called on national parliaments, regional and international parliamentary unions, and councils to intensify their actions and initiatives to put an end to Israeli crimes against civilians in Gaza, including children, women, and the elderly, and to hold the perpetrators accountable.

In a statement issued today, the Tunisian Parliament strongly condemned Israel's continued genocidal and systematic actions in Gaza. The statement urged parliaments around the world to "intensify their efforts" to stop the bloodbath.

"The Tunisian Parliament condemns in the strongest terms the brutal Israeli assault, the ongoing killings, destruction, starvation, and displacement of innocent civilians in Gaza, amidst a troubling international silence," the statement read. "This occupation continues to disregard and disrespect all international resolutions, treaties, and calls for an immediate ceasefire to halt this devastating war."

The Parliament also expressed deep concern over the dire and inhumane conditions faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza, as the Israeli occupation persists in its genocidal campaign, which has resulted in thousands of martyrs, wounded, and injured.

Additionally, the Tunisian Parliament called on the global community to strengthen solidarity with the Palestinian cause, ensure international protection for the Palestinian people, and facilitate the flow of humanitarian and medical aid into Gaza.

The statement reaffirmed Tunisia’s unwavering and principled support for the Palestinian people’s just cause, particularly their right to establish an independent and sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
