GAZA, December 21, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces launched a heavy and unprecedented bombardment on Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, located in northern Gaza, this evening, resulting in damage to some sections.
Medical sources reported that the hospital came under intense and indiscriminate shelling, with Israeli forces targeting the facility using bombs, artillery shells, and sniper fire. The attack caused significant damage to the hospital’s infrastructure, including its power generators and various departments.
Medical staff, who were working under increasingly dangerous conditions, sought shelter by gathering in the hallways and other secure areas of the hospital to protect themselves from the ongoing bombardment and sniper fire.
Kamal Adwan Hospital has been targeted by Israeli forces in recent weeks, resulting in fatalities and injuries among both medical personnel and civilians in the surrounding areas. The frequent attacks have led to severe disruptions in medical services, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Since the beginning of the Israeli assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the region has witnessed a catastrophic loss of life, with nearly 153,000 Palestinians killed or injured, the majority being women and children.
Over 11,000 people have gone missing, and entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble. The ongoing blockade and bombardments have led to widespread food and water shortages, further fueling the humanitarian crisis.
The international community has condemned the Israeli assault, with the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
