JERUSALEM, December 13, 2024 (WAFA) - The UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Muhannad Hadi, expressed deep concern on Friday over the rapidly worsening security and humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, stating that civilians are bearing the brunt of the ongoing conflict.
Hadi highlighted the devastating impact of recent Israeli airstrikes, which have resulted in significant civilian casualties, including women and children.
He condemned the attacks undermining UN aid convoys, describing them as unacceptable and life-threatening for those in desperate need.
He reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to supporting Palestinians, emphasizing the urgent need for a ceasefire, safe aid delivery and international action to protect civilians and address the root causes of the conflict.
He stressed that the UN is working around the clock to deliver vital aid to families in Gaza who have been left with nothing after enduring 14 months of war.
Hadi called for adherence to principles of distinction, proportionality and precautions in all military actions.
