JERUSALEM, December 7, 2024 (WAFA) – A Palestinian Saturday sustained an injury in a colonists’ attack in the Old City of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank city, according to eyewitnesses.
They said that Israeli colonists, under the protection of the occupation police, attacked Palestinians, including merchants, in Suq al-Qattanin (Market of the Cotton Merchants), located to the west of the wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, injuring a Palestinian.
They added that the occupation police rounded up some 10 Palestinians, including Palestinian citizens of the 1948 Territories, from the area.
Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
