RAMALLAH, December 6, 2024 (WAFA) - Extremist Israeli colonists Friday carried out a series of attacks against Palestinians and their properties across multiple West Bank areas, according to local and official sources.
According to the mayor of Silwad, Ra'ed Hamed. dozens of colonists broke into the al-Burj area near Silwad, erecting tents, raising Israeli flags and displaying banners with racist slogans. This area is considered an archaeological site and is frequently encroached upon by colonists.
Another group of colonists attacked Palestinian residents in the Birin area east of Yatta in the Hebron Governorate and threatened to expel them from the area to make way for colonial expansion.
Coordinator of the popular committees against the wall and settlements in southern Hebron, Rateb al-Jabour, reported that the colonists attacked the home of a Palestinian resident, warning him and his family they would be expelled to facilitate the expansion of colonies.
In the meantime, Israeli forces and colonists continued the expansion of the colony of Susiya, built illegally on Palestinian lands in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron. Activists reported new construction activity at the colony’s site.
Meanwhile, colonists continued to plow dozens of dunums of land in the village of Jiftlik north of Jericho and the Jordan Valley. Ahmad Abu Ghanem, the head of the Jiftlik village council, informed WAFA that colonists have been working on land north of the village for the past week. This area, spanning over 100 dunums, is being prepared for seizure and cultivation, particularly for the cultivation of grapes.
Each year, as the rain-fed farming season nears, colonists begin plowing large swathes of Palestinian-owned land in different parts of the Jordan Valley. Colonists plant crops while preventing the rightful Palestinian owners from working in their fields.
