GAZA, November 27, 2024 (WAFA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Wednesday of the repercussions of hunger in the Gaza Strip reaching critical levels, calling for an immediate ceasefire.
The UN agency said in a brief statement on X that “hunger in Gaza has reached critical levels, as people search for leftover food in the garbage that has been left for weeks."
"With the onset of winter, the situation is rapidly deteriorating and survival becomes impossible without urgent humanitarian aid. A ceasefire must be reached now,” it added.
Local health authorities confirmed that the Palestinian death toll from the Israeli onslaught since October 7, 2023 has risen to 44,249 reported fatalities, with an additional 104,746 individuals sustaining injuries. The majority of the victims are women and children.
People in the Gaza Strip are suffering from a systematic starvation policy due to the scarcity of food supplies due to the occupation's prevention of the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
