Israeli colonists destroy citrus trees in Salfit, continuing attacks on farmers

SALFIT, November 22, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists have carried out another attack on Palestinian agricultural lands, destroying citrus trees and damaging crops in the area of Wadi Qana, located west of the town of Deir Istiya in the West Bank province of Salfit.

The attack took place today, when a group of colonists targeted the farm of local farmer Abdul Razzaq Mansour, breaking lemon and orange trees and destroying the fruit.

Firas Diab, the head of the Deir Istiya municipality, said the assault consitutes part of a broader pattern of ongoing harassment by colonists against Palestinian farmers in the Wadi Qana area.

He stated that these attacks are frequently carried out under the protection of the Israeli military, in what appears to be an organized effort to force Palestinian farmers off their land to make way for further colonial expansion.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, a body affiliated with the Palestinian Authority, colonists have been responsible for over 1,732 separate attacks on Palestinian citizens and their property since the beginning of 2024.

These attacks include acts of violence, destruction of agricultural produce, and damage to homes, contributing to the daily hardships faced by Palestinian communities living under occupation.
