HEBRON, November 1, 2024 (WAFA) – Armed Israeli colonists Friday attacked Palestinians’ houses in the Surif town, northwest of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, according to a municipal source.
Mahmoud Naji, member of the Surif Municipal Council, said that dozens of armed colonists, under army protection, attacked Palestinians’ houses in the town, opening gunfire towards them.
The assailants came from the nearby colony of bat Ayin.
Abdullah Ghneimat, a resident, said that the colonists smashed the windows of three houses with stones and set fire in their vicinity. Hadn’t the resident been on alert, the fire would have consumed the houses, he added.
Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonies across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
