Wednesday, August 28, 2024 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation authorities Wednesday forced a Jerusalemite resident to demolish his home in Wadi Qaddum neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied Jerusalem.
Abdullah Maher Al-Salaymeh said that the occupation army forced him to demolish his home as they notified him of the demolition order on August 18th.
He added that 14 people have been living in the house since 2010, and that the occupation authorities forced him to pay fines in stages, amounting to NIS120,000.
It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities force Palestinians, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem, to demolish their homes by themselves under the pretext of lack of a building license, in order to avoid the exorbitant sums imposed on them in the event that Israeli bulldozers carry out the demolition process.
The occupation municipality in Jerusalem refuses to grant Palestinians building permits, and demolishes or forces them to demolish their homes, in a procedure that contradicts international and humanitarian laws that guarantee the right to housing, as part of its systematic practices of forcibly displacing Palestinians, in exchange for expanding colonies in the city and its surroundings.
