Israeli forces erect checkpoints in Ramallah governorate

RAMALLAH, Saturday, August 24, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces erected several checkpoints in the occupied West Bank governorate of Ramallah, according to security sources.

They said that the occupation forces set up a checkpoint close to Rawabi Circle, north of Ramallah, as well as at the entrances of the villages of Aboud and Ras Karkar, north and west of the city, stopping vehicles with Palestinian registration plates and inspecting passengers’ identity cards.

There was no immediately available information on any detention case.

Israel severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions.

Closures besides other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
