Israeli colonists burn olive trees south of Nablus

NABLUS, Saturday, August 24, 2024 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists set fire today to dozens of ancient olive trees in the village of Sira, located west of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

Local sources reported that a group of colonists ignited fires across extensive areas of the village’s land, leading to the destruction of numerous centuries-old olive trees.

This act of vandalism is part of a broader pattern of ongoing violence and harassment by Israeli colonists in the region. This includes the burning and uprooting of trees, attacks on homes, and the establishment of military checkpoints that hinder the movement of local residents.

Since October 7, colonists have significantly intensified their attacks, carrying out a total of 1,334 incidents across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the beginning of this year.

These acts are part of a larger campaign of terror aimed at displacing and intimidating Palestinian communities, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation in the occupied territories.
