Israeli occupation impose tight siege on northern West Bank town

TULKARM, Tuesday, July 16, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces today imposed a tight siege on the Ramin town, east of the northern occupied West Bank city of Tulkarm, according to local sources.

They said that the occupation forces conducted a raid that lasted for over eight hours into the town, deploying patrols on the roads and alleyways and sealing off all the main entrances, denying the resident access into and out of the town.

The heavily armed soldiers broke inside a number of houses, conducted thorough searches, interrogated and forced the occupants out before occupying their rooftops and turning them into observation points.

They also confiscated the recordings of surveillance cameras from houses and stores in the town and used a bulldozer to block the minor roads leading to the town with earth mounds.

This came as large Israeli reinforcements deployed in the cultivated lands around the towns of Ramin, Kafr Rumman, Anabta and Bizzariya.

They have closed off the ‘Anabta military checkpoint, known to colonists as 'Einav, east of Tulkarm since the early morning hours, and opened fire towards anyone who approached it.

This came after three colonists were wounded in a shooting on the Ramin conjunction, near the town of Beit Lid, east of Tulkarm.

Israeli severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of approximately 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions.

Closures besides to other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
