TULKARM, Monday, July 8, 2024 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation forces dawn on Monday burned greenhouses and crops, south of the city of Tulkarm, after targeting them with light and sound bombs.
Uday Al-Taneeb, a local farmer, told WAFA that the occupation forces, who were stationed at the gate erected on the section of the separation and racial expansion wall west of the suburb of Ertah, south of the city, fired a barrage of light and sound bombs towards the agricultural lands adjacent to the wall, causing the greenhouses and crops to catch fire and burn fully.
He added that the fire spread to olive and avocado trees and irrigation networks on open agricultural lands, which belong to farmers from the Ertah suburb.
Al-Taneeb pointed out that civil defense crews came to the scene and were able to extinguish the fires after a long struggle due to the winds that helped spread the fire and spread to large areas of agricultural land in that area.
He explained that the occupation forces escalated violations against farmers in that area after October 7, 2023, preventing them from reaching their lands, which are 300 meters away from the wall, chasing them and shooting at them in addition to tearing up greenhouses and destroying crops.
Al-Taneeb added that the farmers risked their lives to reach their lands to care for their crops, which are their only source of livelihood, but the occupation forces insist on restricting them by burning greenhouses and destroying the crops.
