Occupation forces demolish two more homes in Jericho

JERICHO, Sunday, June 23, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces carried out demolitions today, targeting two homes in the Mershahat area, southwest of Jericho city, according to local sources.

WAFA correspondent the homes belonging to Abdullah Najoom and Mohammed Eid Najoom were demolished by the Israeli occupation army after their owners were forced to evacuate.

The occupation forces cited construction in an area classified as Area C as a pretext for the demolition.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces demolished three homes in the al-Duyuk village, northwest of Jericho.

The demolitions are part of a broader pattern of Israeli military actions in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, aimed at making life difficult for Palestinians to make room for colonial settlement construction.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, Israeli forces have conducted a total of 47 demolition operations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, during the past month of May.

These operations targeted 66 structures, comprising 35 inhabited homes, 5 uninhabited structures, and 15 agricultural facilities among others.
