Israeli forces tighten movement restrictions to Salfit governorate

SALFIT, Saturday, June 22, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Saturday evening tightened restrictions on movement and access around the villages and towns of the occupied West Bank governorate of Salfit, according to local sources.

They said that the occupation forces set up checkpoints at the entrances of the towns of Deir Ballut and az-Zawiya, both located to the west of the city of Salfit, as well as close to the entrance of the Qarawat Bani Hassan town, northwest of the city, inspecting passengers’ identity cards and causing heavy traffic congestions.

Israel severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions.

Closures besides other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
