25,000 patients, wounded civilians need to travel for treatment outside Gaza: Medical sources

GAZA, Thursday, June 6, 2024 (WAFA) – 25,000 patients and wounded civilians need to travel for treatment outside the Gaza Strip, amid the continued closure of the Rafah crossing, putting thousands of lives at risk of complications and death, medical sources in Gaza said on Thursday.

They noted that many of them could be treated and saved if they were allowed to go to specialized centers outside the Gaza Strip, while the situation worsens for these patients and the wounded after the deliberate destruction by the occupation forces of most of Gaza's hospitals, rendering them out of service.

The same sources explained that only 4,895 patients and wounded individuals were able to travel when the Rafah crossing was open. Since Israeli forces occupied the Rafah crossing on May 12th, none of them has been able to leave Strip.
