WASHINGTON DC, Sunday, May 12, 2024 (WAFA) – Hundreds of pro-Palestine protesters gathered yesterday outside a building in Seattle, Washington, as US President Joe Biden visited the city to attend a fundraising event for his presidential campaign.
The protest, held at Westlake Park in the city, aimed to condemn Biden's silence over the call for a ceasefire in Gaza and demand an end to US financial and military support for the Israeli regime.
The protest featured speakers sharing personal stories and leading the crowd in chants. Many were seen holding signs and waving Palestinian flags.
"It’s important for me to be here because I’ve lost nine family members in Gaza and I’ve found my voice in my Palestinian heritage and I want to be here and support my people and show we want peace and we’re here until Palestine is free," one man participating in the protest told KCPQ TV.
Meantime, in St. Louis, Missouri, hundreds of activists participated in a march under the banner #HandsOffRafah after Israel's invasion of the city. Another march took place outside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire and an end to the Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza.
Another demonstration took place in Baltimore, Maryland, urging President Biden to stop arming Israel and funding the genocide.
Simultaneously, university students continue their protests at American universities to pressure university administrations to divest from the Israeli occupation and cease collaboration with academic institutions there.
