Occupation authorities notify demolition of residential structures near Jericho

JERICHO, Sunday, May 5, 2024 (WAFA) – This morning, Israeli occupation authorities handed notifications informing residents of the imminent demolition of five homes and a sheep pen in the Bedouin community of Arab Al-Mleihat, located northwest of Jericho in the occupied West Bank.

Hassan Mleihat, a local advocate of Bedouin rights, told WAFA that occupation forces raided the Al-Mleihat community and served demolition orders for five homes and a sheep pen belonging to the Mleihat brothers: Saleh, Akram, Taleb, and Mohammed Suleiman Mleihat.

Of note, Israeli occupation forces and colonist militias have escalated their attacks against the residents of the community, aiming to force them to leave the area for the benefit of the colonial Israeli settlement construction.

Families in Bedouin communities primarily rely on livestock farming and grazing to sustain their livelihoods in areas where Israel prohibits infrastructure development.

Statistics indicate that Israeli occupation forces and colonists seized 43 agricultural tractors, 293 vehicles, and 296 sheep from various areas of the West Bank during the past year of 2023.
