Israeli colonists raid, search homes in Bedouin community north of Jericho

JERICHO, Saturday, May 4, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists today inspected Palestinian homes in the Arab Al-Malihat community, northwest of the city of Jericho.

Hassan Mleihat, the supervisor of the Al-Baidar organization for defending the rights of the Bedouins, said that a group of Israeli colonists broke into the community, where they searched four homes belonging to the Mleihat family.

Bedouin communities residing in the region east of the occupied West Bank heavily rely on livestock breeding and herding. These activities are essential for their livelihoods in regions where Israeli restrictions hinder the development of infrastructure.

Colonist violence has long since become part of Palestinians’ daily life under occupation. Israeli security forces enable these actions, which result in Palestinians casualties – injuries and fatalities – as well as damage to land and property. In some cases, they even serve as an armed escort, or even join in the attacks," said the Israeli information center for human rights in occupied territories, B’Tselem.
