Israeli colonists steal wheat crop from farmers in Bethlehem-district village

HEBRON, Saturday, April 27, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists today stole wheat crop from Palestinian farmers in the wilderness of al-Maniya, southeast of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to a municipal source.

Zeyad Kawazba, Head of al-Maniya Village Council, said that armed colonists attacked Palestinian farmers once the latter finished harvesting their wheat crop at Wadi al-Abyad in the wilderness of the village, and stole the crops at gunpoint.

He added that the amount of the stolen crop, which belongs to Saket Shalaldeh and his brothers, was estimated at 2 tons.

Meanwhile, colonists destroyed the tents that served as dwellings in Khirbet as-Sakout in the northern Jordan Valley.

Colonist violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Colonist violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonies across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
