JERICHO, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 (WAFA) – A Palestinian man has been shot dead by the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, according to the director of Jericho Governmental Hospital.
He said that Shadi Issa Galaita, 44, a father of three children, was killed by Israeli gunfire during a military raid.
WAFA correspondent said that the slain Palestinian is the brother of prisoner Fadi Galaita, 46, who last Wednesday entered his 24th year behind Israeli bars, noting that he was sentenced to 25 years in prison, and that his father died while he was in occupation jails.
Two citizens were also injured by occupation forces’ bullets during a storming of Aqabat Jabr and Ain al-Sultan camps, south and north of the city of Jericho, the village of Al-Duyouk Al-Fawqa, and several neighborhoods in the city.
Health sources said that a boy in Aqabat Jabr camp was injured by a bullet in the chest. His injury was reported to be serious and he was taken to Ramallah Governmental Hospital.
A second injury in the knee was taken to the Jericho Governmental Hospital.
Local sources said that the two camps were stormed simultaneously by the occupation forces, who raided and searched a number of homes.
Confrontations and clashes broke out between the occupation forces and groups of protestors, amid calls over mosque loudspeakers to confront the Israeli incursions into the two camps.
Security sources in the Joint Operations Room in Jericho told WAFA that the occupation forces detained member of the Fatah movement in Ain Sultan regulatory area Khamis Abu Dahuk from Ain Sultan camp.
