Colonists open gunfire at civilians in Masafer Yatta

HEBRON, Thursday, February 22, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists opened gunfire this afternoon on Palestinian civilians in Masafer Yatta region, located south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources. No injuries were reported in the aftermath of the attack.

The sources informed WAFA that a group of armed Israeli colonists fired live ammunition towards civilians and pursued them as they attempted to reach the Shu'ab al-Batm village in Masafer Yatta. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Simultaneously, Israeli occupation forces detained two international activists while they were accompanying Palestinian shepherds in the Wadi al-Jawaya area of Masafer Yatta. The activists were joining the shepherds in a solidarity gesture against Israeli settler attacks.

Terror attacks by Israeli colonist militias are a common feature of the daily life under colonial settler occupation in the West Bank, but have seen exponential growth in recent months with the rise of hard-right fascism in Israel's government coalition.
