SARAJEVO, Sunday, January 7, 2024 (WAFA) – Hundreds of people assembled today in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a show of solidarity with the people of Palestine amid the ongoing relentless Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip.
Despite the rain, a multitude participated in a protest rally in front of the Sebilj fountain located in Sarajevo's Bascarsija district.
Some protesters brandished Palestinian flags while chanting anti-occupation slogans, while others exhibited placards bearing messages such as "Stop the Genocide" and "Free Palestine."
Safija Tadefi, one of the event's organizers, informed the press that their objective was to raise awareness and pay tribute to the Palestinians who lost their lives as a result of the Israeli airstrikes.
"We call for a cessation of hostilities and an end to the atrocities. This marks our third organized march," stated Tadefi, emphasizing, "We aim to orchestrate these demonstrations to demonstrate the solidarity of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Palestinian cause."
Adela Korac, a resident of France attending the rally, also shared her sentiments with the media, expressing sadness over the situation in Gaza and asserting their commitment to assisting the Palestinians.
"We are present here to lend our support to the people of Palestine and contribute in any way possible," affirmed Korac.
In a preliminary toll, the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7 has resulted in at least 22,835 fatalities, with the majority being women and children, and the injury of nearly 58,300 others. Additionally, 7,000 individuals are missing under the rubble, and are most likely thought dead.
