Foreign Ministry calls on Tony Blair not to get involved in Israel’s scheme of ‘voluntary evacuation’ of Palestinians

RAMALLAH, Monday, January 1, 2024 (WAFA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today called on former British Prime Minister Tony Blair not to get involved in Israel’s scheme of “voluntary evacuation” of two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

It said in a statement that it “is following with great interest what was reported by the Hebrew media regarding Tony Blair heading a team to work for the voluntary evacuation of Palestinian citizens from the Gaza Strip, and holding meetings and consultations with some countries to explore their position regarding receiving Palestinian refugees, which was greatly welcomed by the fascist Israeli minister Itamar Ben Gvir and other extremists.”

The Ministry said it “hopes that Tony Blair will not be involved in committing this crime, which falls within the framework of the Israeli government's plans to intensify genocide and forced displacement of the Palestinians.”

It stressed that if these reports are correct, it considers this step “hostile to the Palestinian people and their rights in their homeland, a flagrant violation of international law, and hostile to humanity,” warning that those involved in it will be held accountable.

Accordingly, added the Foreign Ministry, it will follow up on this serious issue with Arab, Islamic and friendly countries to confront it at all levels and in the courts.
