Settlers destroy 70 decades-old olive trees in Yasuf

HEBRON, Sunday, October 22, 2023 (WAFA) – Colonial Israeli settlers cut down and destroyed 70 decades-old olive trees today in the village of Yasuf, in the occupied West Bank province of Salfit, according to local sources.

The head of the Yasuf Village Council, Saleh Yasin, told WAFA that dozens of settlers from the colonial settlement of Nahmia, which is illegally established on the lands of Yasuf and Iskaka villages, cut and damaged 70 olive trees, ranging in age from 50 to 70 years. These trees were owned by several residents of Yasuf, he added.

Yasin pointed out that the area where the settlers attacked the trees has been consistently targeted for attacks by settlers. Only days ago, approximately 10 dunums of land in the area were bulldozed by settlers, and today dozens of trees were cut down in this latest act of destruction.

Meantime, Israeli occupation soldiers forced Palestinian olive pickers to leave their own land west of the city of Salfit after firing live ammunition towards them, local sources said.
