SALFIT, Saturday, October 21, 2023 (WAFA) – For the second day in a row, colonial Israeli settlers opened fire with live ammunition at Palestinian olive harvesters in the village of Yasuf, in the occupied West Bank province of Salfit, injuring five of them by live ammunition, according to local sources.
Saleh Yasin, the mayor of the village, told WAFA that colonial Israeli settlers from the Tappuah settlement, which is illegally built on land belonging to the village, opened gunfire at Palestinian farmers who were harvesting olive trees inside their own lands east of the village, injuring five of them.
He added that the settler terrorists also vandalized and smashed a parked vehicle in the area.
The assault on Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season is a recurring issue and adds to the challenges they face, particularly in areas close to Israeli settlements. Such incidents endanger the safety and livelihoods of Palestinian families who rely on the season for their income.
