Israeli settlers open fire on Palestinian olive harvesters in Yasuf

SALFIT, Friday, October 20, 2023 (WAFA) – Colonial Israeli settlers opened fire with live ammunition today at Palestinian olive harvesters in the village of Yasuf, in the occupied West Bank province of Salfit, according to local sources. No injuries were reported.

Colonial Israeli settlers from the Tappuah settlement, which is illegally built on land belonging to the village, accompanied by Israeli military protection, prevented local Palestinian farmers from accessing their lands east of the village for the olive harvest.

The settlers reportedly fired live rounds at the farmers present, forcing them to leave the area.

The assault on Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season is a recurring issue and adds to the challenges they face, particularly in areas close to Israeli settlements. Such incidents endanger the safety and livelihoods of Palestinian families who rely on the season for their income.
