Newspapers Review: Israeli killing of two Palestinians in the West Bank highlight of dailies

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, September 6, 2023 (WAFA) – The Israeli army killing of two Palestinians in the West Bank was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

The three papers, al-Quds, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida, said one Palestinian was killed in the morning in an army raid of Nur Shams refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm, and the other in the evening in the Jordan Valley after he was shot by soldiers.

Al-Quds said the Palestinian presidency held the US responsible for Israel’s return to incursions into Palestinian cities and the killings.

Al-Ayyam said the Israeli army left heavy destruction in the infrastructure and property in Nur Shams refugee camp.

It also said several people were injured while confronting army incursions in the West Bank and settlers set fire to two tents in Deir Dibwan and stole sheep.

In other news, al-Quds reported on the news about Israeli soldiers forcing five Palestinian women to strip naked during a raid of their house in the southern West Bank city of Hebron in July. It said this exposed the ugly face of the Israeli occupation., while it quoted Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh saying the perpetrators should face international justice, as women in Gaza demonstrated in protest against this act.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israel plans to steal 300 million shekels from the Palestinian clearance fund and the prime minister called on the US and Europe to intervene to stop this Israeli piracy of Palestinian money.

Al-Quds said the Palestinians in Israel yesterday observed a general strike in protest against government apathy toward rise in crime in the Arab towns.

It also quoted the minister of economy saying Israel claims it gives facilities to the Palestinians in order to make the Palestinian Authority look bad. He said the Paris Economic Protocol between Israel and the Palestinians ended and that there is going to be a dialogue soon with Washington.
