JORDAN VALLEY, Thursday, August 24, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers today attacked a Palestinian herder in the occupied northern Jordan Valley and forced him to leave the pastures, according to a local activist.
Ayman Gharib, an activist, said settlers, protected by soldiers, attacked a shepherd in Khillet Makhoul area while herding his sheep in the open pastures and forced him to leave the area warning him against returning.
Settlers in the Jordan Valley have controlled most of the pastures where shepherds used to graze their livestock for decades, set up their own livestock farms, and prevented the Palestinian shepherds, under the force of arms and in support of soldiers, from using these pastures.
Setting up settlement farms in the Jordan Valley and in the South Hebron Hills is one way Israel takes over the West Bank lands and pushes the Palestinians out of them.
