RAMALLAH, Sunday, August 6, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli state-backed settler militias carried out a series of attacks last night targeting defenseless Palestinian civilians in the north and center of the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

In Ramallah province, groups of extremist Israeli settlers, guarded by army, gathered at the north entrance to the city of Al-Bireh and embarked on pelting stones at Palestinian vehicles driving through the entrance into and out of the city. No injuries were reported.

In Tulkarm province, a group of Israeli settlers, guarded by army and police, attacked with stones Palestinian vehicles driving through Shufa military checkpoint, to the southeast of the city. No injuries were reported.

In the northern Jordan Valley region, northeast of the West Bank, a group of Israeli settlers attacked the village of Khirbet Mak-hul and vandalized a livestock barn owned by a local Palestinian resident.

There has been a noticeable rise in violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians since the beginning of this year, with backing and protection for settler militias from the far-right Israeli government.

There are over 700,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
