JENIN, Thursday, July 6, 2023 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation forces targeted and severely damaged the Latin church in Jenin during their recent aggression against the northern West Bank city and its refugee camp, which lasted for two days.
The parish priest of Jenin, Fr. Labib Deibs, told WAFA that the church was severely damaged in addition to the fire in it and damage to the prayer room after it was directly targeted by the Israeli occupation forces.
He pointed out that the Latin Patriarch of Palestine, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, is going to visit the church to inspect the destruction and devastation as a result of the Israeli aggression.
Deibs valued the role of specialized institutions and activists in Jenin, who continue to work to repair the damages in the church in a message confirming the unity of blood and destiny among the one people.
The Israeli occupation forces launched a massive aggression against Jenin and its refugee camp at dawn last Monday, which lasted for two days and resulted in the killing of 12 people, including five children, and more than 140 injured, including 30 seriously, in addition to the destruction of the camp’s infrastructure and severe damage to homes and property.
