Israeli settlers uproot olive trees, destroy stone chains in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Sunday, May 14, 2023 (WAFA) – Extremist Israeli settlers today uprooted dozens of Palestinian-owned olive and almond trees and demolished stone chains in the village of Husan, to the west of Bethlehem city in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Mohamed Sabatin, one of the land’s owners, told WAFA that scores of Israeli settlers sneaked their way into the village, uprooted nearly 15 olive and 10 almond trees and destroyed stone chains and barbered wires belonging to four Palestinian siblings near the illegal colonial settlement of Beitar Illit.

Recently, Israeli settlers have escalated their attacks against Palestinians and their properties in this area.

Israeli settler violence against Palestinians and their property is commonplace in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

There are over 600,000 Israeli settlers illegally occupying portions of the West Bank in violation of international law and established norms prohibiting the relocation of the occupying power's civil population to the land of the occupied.
