JERUSALEM, Friday, April 7, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces assaulted scores of Palestinian Muslim worshipers this early morning while in their way to perform dawn prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem’s Old City.
Witnesses told WAFA that Israeli police officers denied worshipers below the age of 40 entry to the holy site as well as assaulted many of them with batons at Bab Hutta Gate, one of the main gates leading to the holy site.
Israeli police officers also assaulted street vendors and shop-keepers in the area, added the witnesses.
Tensions have been mounting since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan as a result of Israeli occupation forces’ frequent raids on the mosque and assaults on Muslim worshipers praying peacefully at the holy site, Islam’s third holiest place of worship.
