OIC to hold an emergency meeting on the Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque

JEDDAH, Thursday, April 6, 2023 (WAFA) – At the request of the State of Palestine and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said it will hold an emergency, open-ended meeting of the Executive Committee at the level of Permanent Representatives, on Saturday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss the incursions and attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against Al-Aqsa Mosque and worshipers therein.

A statement issued by the OIC said it is anticipated that the OIC Secretary-General, Hissein Brahim Taha, will address the meeting to highlight the serious developments that Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinians in general are going through, because of the repeated Israeli attacks.

The OIC previously strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ blatant storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, its brutal assault on worshipers in its courtyards, and the arrest of over 400 of them, considering this dangerous escalation an assault on the sanctity of holy places and freedom of worship, and a flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions and relevant United Nations resolutions.
