HEBRON, Saturday, June 11, 2022 (WAFA) – Palestinians today protesting Israeli attempt to take over 600 dunums of their land in the southern West Bank town of Tarqumiya were attacked by soldiers, according to a local activist.

Suleiman Jaafreh, an activist in the defense of land committee, told WAFA that settlers came to the land in an attempt to take it over as landowners and residents were working on reclaiming the land to protect it from the settlers.

He said the residents and settlers got into a scuffle when soldiers intervened to protect the settlers and attacked the residents.

Israel claimed the 600 dunums were state land, which it wanted to take over in order to expand illegal settlements nearby after handing 10 landowners notices to leave their land planted with olive trees.
