RAMALLAH,
Wednesday, August 11, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday overnight detained
at least nine Palestinians and ransacked property across the West Bank,
according to local and security sources.
They confirmed
that Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinians after breaking into and
ransacking the houses of their families in Jaba‘
town, south of Jenin city.
The raid
triggered violent confrontations which saw the soldiers opening fire towards
local youths and civilians’ houses, causing dozens to suffocate from tear gas
inhalation.
In Nablus
district, three others were detained as they attempted to cross Huwara military checkpoint, south of the city.
Meanwhile,
Israeli soldiers in full military gear barged their way into the western and cdntral parts of the northern West Bank city of Nablus,
where they detonated the doors of several stores, went inside and ransacked
them.
The raid sparked
violent confrontations. No injuries were reported though.
In the southern
West Bank, the sources confirmed a military raid in Yatta
town, south of Hebron, resulting in the detention of another.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
