RAMALLAH, Saturday, March 06, 2021 (WAFA) – Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Laila Ghannam, ordered today a strict one-week lockdown of the central West Bank province over a spike in daily coronavirus infections and hospitalizations.
She said a full lockdown will be imposed as of today evening until the morning of March 14, during which individuals will only be allowed to walk on foot in their own neighborhoods.
Pharmacies and bakeries will be allowed to work full time, while grocery stores will be allowed to work on Sundays and Thursdays, and will be asked to observe strict precautionary measures.
Medical staff will also be allowed to commute in and out of the province during the lockdown.
Ramallah is the current de facto administrative center of the Palestinian Authority. The province has registered the highest number of daily infections and hospitalizations for nearly one month.
