RAMALLAH, Saturday, March 6, 2021 (WAFA) – The weekly anti-Israeli occupation and anti-settlements Palestinian protests in the occupied territories and Israeli army crackdown on these peaceful protests with gunfire and violence that leaves injuries were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
Al-Ayyam daily said in its top front-page story on this topic that dozens of Palestinians were hurt in the Israeli army attacks.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida daily said Palestinians in the West Bank confronted Israeli settlers who attacked their homes and property in the village of Madama, in the north of the West Bank.
Al-Quds daily said the Israeli army is getting ready for an attack on the besieged Gaza Strip as two Palestinian fishermen were injured from Israeli navy gunfire near the Gaza coast.
The three dailies also said tens of thousands of Palestinians inside Israel demonstrated yesterday in Umm al-Fahm, a Palestinian town inside Israel, against rise in violence in the Arab communities in Israel and police inaction toward this.
Coronavirus also received prominent space on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
They said that 19 people have died of the disease in Palestine yesterday while 1826 new cases were recorded.
Al-Quds said Israel has postponed indefinitely the inoculation of 100,000 Palestinians who work inside Israel against coronavirus, which was supposed to start tomorrow.
Al-Ayyam said two people have died of coronavirus in East Jerusalem and 492 new cases were recorded over two days.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida had a report on the corona pandemic in Palestine a year after the first cases were discovered in Bethlehem in March of last year.
The paper also said Pope Francis sent his heartfelt greeting to President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people as he flew over Palestine on his way to Iraq.
It also quoted American-Palestinian Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib telling the US administration, in reaction to the latter’s opposition to a decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open an investigation into Israeli war crimes against the Palestinian people, that no one is above the law.
Al-Ayyam said Israel is preparing a strategy to kill the ICC decision, while al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Israeli army is concerned about the repercussions of the decision on its members.
