Palestine records 1,743 new Covid-19 cases, 21 fatalities

RAMALLAH, Friday, December 11, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 1,743 new Covid-19 cases and 21 fatalities, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

She announced that 1,743 Palestinians contracted the highly contagious virus and 21 other died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the 1,743 new cases, 182 cases were recorded in Hebron governorate, 203 in Jenin, 208 in Nablus, 115 in Tulkarm, 152 in Ramallah and al-Bireh, 38 in Salfit, 35 in Qalqilia, 38 in Tubas, 104 in Bethlehem, 32 in Jerusalem suburbs, 19 in Jericho & the Jordan Valley besides to 617 in the besieged Gaza Strip.  

Al-Kaileh identified the 21 new fatalities as 15 fatalities from the West Bank and six others from the Gaza Strip. The West Bank fatalities were identified as five from Bethlehem, another from Salfit, two from Jerusalem suburbs, three from Nablus, two from Ramallah & al-Bireh besides to two others from Jenin.

She confirmed the recovery of 2,451 Covid-19 patients as 81 others are still receiving treatment in the intensive care units, including 23 who are connected to respirators.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 121,157.

Out of the 121,157 cases, 79,188 are recorded in the West Bank, 27,434 in the Gaza Strip and 14,535 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 94,349, and the death toll reached 1,029, leaving a total of 25,779 active cases.

Recoveries account for 77.9 percent of the total cases, active cases for 21.3 percent and the fatalities for 0.8 since the pandemic outbreak in March.
