HEBRON, Tuesday, November 17, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers, backed by army forces, attacked today a father and his teenage son in Tel Rumeida area in central Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, according to a local activist.
human rights defender Imad Abu Shamsiyya, said a group of settlers beat up 15-year-old Haytham Abu Aisha, while he was on his way home in Tel Rumeida area. The father, Tayseer, was struck on the back by the soldiers when he attempted to help his son.
“Settler violence has long since become part of Palestinians’ daily life under occupation. Israeli security forces enable these actions, which result in Palestinians casualties – injuries and fatalities – as well as damage to land and property,” said B’Tselem, the Israeli information center for human rights in occupied territories.
“In some cases, they even serve as an armed escort, or even join in the attacks. Investigations, if even opened, are usually closed with no action taken against perpetrators as part of an undeclared policy of leniency,” it said.
B’Tselem said that “The long-term effect of this violence is the dispossession of Palestinians from increasing parts of the West Bank, making it easier for Israel to take over land and resources."
