RAMALLAH, Sunday, October 11, 2020 (WAFA) – News about the Israeli occupation army attack on a rally organized by the Fatah Movement in Jerusalem yesterday made headlines in the front pages of the three Arabic Palestinian dailies on Sunday.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that several Palestinians were injured as the Israeli occupation forces attacked the rally in the village of Rafat, to the north of Jerusalem
The papers said the soldiers fired rubber-coated rounds and teargas canisters at the rally held in the aforementioned village, causing several minor injuries among the participants.
On a different subject, the dailies said that Israeli soldiers yesterday detained a 26-year-old Palestinian man for defending his home against extremist Israeli settlers who attacked Palestinian homes in the village of Burin, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
According to the newspapers, President Mahmoud Abbas received today the American businessman and President of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds said Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh discussed with the Representative of the European Union to Palestine, Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff, the latest political developments in Palestine, most importantly are the nationwide efforts to hold the general elections.
The dailies reported that Minister of Health Mai Alkaila announced that at least 11 people died of the coronavirus, all in the West Bank, 281 new cases were confirmed, and 318 patients have recovered from Friday to Saturday.
The papers said tens of thousands of Israelis rallied in Tel Aviv calling on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanayhu to resign.
