BUDAPEST, September 15, 2011 (WAFA) – Hungary supports the Palestinian right to an independent statehood, Thursday said Hungarian Foreign Minister János Martonyi.
Martonyi, while receiving a delegation of Arab and Islamic ambassadors to Hungary, stressed that his country will talk with the European Union to form a united position from the Palestinian bid to gain full United Nations membership of a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders and Jerusalem as its capital later this month.
The delegation of ambassadors, headed by the Palestinian ambassador to Hungary, Ahmad Abdel Razeq, called on Hungary to vote in favor of the Palestinian request to UN, especially that Hungary had recognized the Palestinian state when it first declared independence in 1988.
