RAMALLAH, March 2, 2011 (WAFA) - Palestinian government will launch the annual Freedom Award in audiovisual and print media on the World Press Freedom Day, 3rd May.
Prime Minister Salam Fayyad said that this step encourages journalists in different media to produce good quality material that tackles citizens' concerns.
Developing the media sector supports the government's plan to build the Palestinian state, he added.
Fayyad said the government will consider 3rd May as Palestine Press Day to support the media role in assessing the government's accountability and performance, adding that this day will be dedicated to honor journalists.
