5 Civilians Including Woman Arrested in Nablus


NABLUS, May 10, 2004, (WAFA)- Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) swept Monday into the two refugee camps of Balata and 'Askar, near Nablus, and arrested five Palestinian citizens, including a woman, witnesses and Palestinian security sources said.... Witnesses said Israeli armoured vehicles rolled Monday morning into Balata and 'Askar, searched tens of houses and arrested five citizens.... Amal Jom'a 33, and her brother Ahmed, from 'Askar camp, were arrested. Three other citizens were also arrested in the refugee camp of Balata, Palestinian security sources said.... In the meantime, Israeli troops swept into the village of Kufr Qalil, south of Nablus, and imposed a curfew, witnesses said.... They told WAFA that Israeli military vehicles moved into Kufr Qalil amidst intensive fire and flare shells at civilians' houses.... "Israeli vehicles used loudspeakers warning citizens from leaving their houses, while flare shells were flashing in the sky, terrifying our children," witness Mahdi Kamel, told WAFA.... Israeli soldiers positioned themselves in the Jerusalem street, east of Nablus, preventing citizens from leaving or accessing, security sources said.
