RAMALLAH, Sunday, March 1, 2020 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused today on the news about the uprooting and chopping off of around 200 Palestinian private-owned grape trees by Jewish settlers near the village of al-Khader, south of Bethlehem.
They said Israeli Jewish settlers on Saturday broke into a grape-planted grove belonging to a Palestinian villager in al-Khader, before proceeding to chop off about 200 trees there.
On other stories, al-Ayyam said Israeli forces on Saturday attacked Palestinian activists planting olive trees in an area to the east of Tubas, in the northern Jordan Valley, injuring many of them.
Al-Quds said in its main news story that new cases of the newly discovered coronavirus (OCVID 19) were recently detected in new countries around the globe, with stock markets recording worst performance since the beginning of the crisis created by the infestation of the new disease.
Al-Ayyam said coronavirus so far affected 60 countries around the world, with the first death case from the epidemic being recorded in the United States.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad as saying that the United States’ announcement of a new vision for ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the “Deal of the Century”, is “the ultimate dishonest brokerage” of the unilateral proposal, saying that his country “finds the plan utterly unacceptable and grossly unjust”.
The three dailies said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and rival Benny Gantz were wrapped up another bitter election campaign on Saturday, before voters cast their ballots for the third time in 12 months on Monday.
