PARIS, Saturday, December 08, 2018 (WAFA) – France has agreed in principle to cooperate in opening the Paris Economic Protocols signed in Paris between the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Israel on April 9, 1994, and to set the appropriate mechanisms for the required revision of this Protocol, which should be amended in favor of Palestinian rights after all these years of dealing with it in a way that was bad for Palestinian economic interests, Foreign Minister Riyad Malki, on a visit to France, said on Saturday.
He told Voice of Palestine radio that Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah has called on him and on Minister of Economy Abeer Odeh to follow up this matter directly with the French and that they are waiting for the French to cooperate with them in opening this protocol and go over the required revisions.
This, he said, will require that Paris get in touch with the Israeli parties to get their reaction and whether it is ready to deal positively with this issue.
Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah attended in Paris on Friday meetings for the joint French-Palestinian ministerial committee, which resulted in the signing of 10 cooperation agreements between Palestine and France.
