RAMALLAH, Saturday, June 27, 2020 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh ordered today stricter safety restrictions as part on an ongoing national effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, following a sharp rise in the new cases reported during the past week.
During a meeting in Ramallah with the heads of the security services, Shtayyeh ordered re-activation of the local emergency committees in all the villages, cities and refugee camps in Palestine.
He also ordered a full ban on all forms of public gatherings, including weddings, mourning houses, graduation parties and others.
In addition, the Prime Minister ordered a full closure of the worst-hit villages and neighborhoods where the disease has become widely spread.
He gave orders for imposing penalties on all those who do not abide by the safety instructions and the COVID-19 protocols of the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, Shtayyeh called on Palestinians with Israeli nationality and who currently live Israel to refrain from visiting the occupied West Bank for one week. Israel has been an epicenter of the disease, with 22,800 cases and 309 deaths confirmed to date.
