Woman among nine Palestinians detained from West Bank

HEBRON, Thursday, September 12, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today overnight detained at least nine Palestinians, including a woman, from various parts of the West Bank, said local and security sources.

Israeli military vehicles stormed Adh-Dhahiriya town, south of Hebron, where soldiers detained three Palestinians, including a 50-year-old woman and her son.

Israeli forces also detained a Palestinian after ransacking his family house in al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron.

In Bethlehem district, security sources confirmed an Israeli military raid in Bethlehem city, resulting in the detention of four others.

In Ramallah district, an Israeli military force raided al-Jalazone refugee camp, north of Ramallah city, where they rounded up a Palestinian.

WAFA correspondent confirmed that Israeli forces ransacked an office for the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) in downtown Ramallah, turning it upside down and seizing some of its contents.

Soldiers also stormed several stores in the Ramallah neighborhood of Umm Ash-Sharayet, and seized the recordings of surveillance cameras.

During confrontations that unfolded, soldiers opened fire towards youngsters who attempted to block their entry. No injuries were reported though.

Israeli forces carry out frequent raids across the West Bank –including occupied East Jerusalem-- on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,700 Palestinians -- including numerous women and children -- are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.
